An elaborate pair of?cannetille?earrings from the Victorian?(ca1880) period! These beautiful?18kt gold earrings are crafted?with very fine cannetille wirework that surrounds polished chalcedony stones at the center. Each earring has an elongated teardrop shape that is intricately layered and hangs from a decorative surmount. The framework is remarkably detailed, including fine spirals, flowing curvilinear shapes, delicate beadwork, and leaf-like accents. The chalcedony stones have a wonderful translucence and pale shade of blue, which looks wonderful paired with the gold setting. An unusual and expertly?crafted pair of earrings, they are a lovely?example of fine cannetille work. They?would?make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 5/8" long, measures 1/2" at the widest point and has a depth of 1/8" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting,?cannetille wirework details, or to the chalcedony stones, which are intact. The earring wires are secure and in good condition.
